Synopsis

Curse the Ancient Ones. I care not for the will of the Old Gods. There is only life and death, and I aim to remain alive.

 

Whispers of long-forgotten deities linger on Dominic's ear. Having wound their strings around the hearts of minor kings, they are able to make them dance with the slightest twitch. Yet Dominic has no lofty ambitions of becoming a king. High Lord would suit him fine. If he can make it to the throne. Which grows increasingly unlikely with each setting of the sun. His would-be Kingdom, Darne, is little more than a cesspool town sat upon black, jagged rock. So undesirable that it is overlooked in the King's War by all other factions, until Dominic's cold mother had snatched the throne from him in the wake of his father's death.

With no allies, Dominic is thrust into a war he wants no part in, in a desperate attempt to escape the blades his mother continues to throw at him.
